The Jolly Regina (the Unintentional Adventures of the Bland Sisters Book 1) (Hardcover)
Jaundice and Kale Bland are kidnapped by a crew of women pirates. The girl's strategy for being in the middle of a fight scene early on in the story is to pretend to be asleep. Although these girls are so dull they are resistant to change,it's fun to watch as they are put in a strange experience. It's a great early chapter book for a 7 to 9 year old to read on their own or to read aloud at bed time with a 5 or 6 year old who's just starting to read on their own. The book is full of references of classical nautical tales, and some excellent illustrations. This is the first in a series and a great way to get a girl or boy with a great sense of humor into reading.
