On Tuesday, March 28th at 7pm, Book Culture and Harper's Magazine host a conversation between Leslie Jamison and James Marcus.
In the April issue of Harper's Magazine Leslie Jamison explores the past, present and future of female activist and reminisces with awe and affection about her mother, a veteran protester, in a cover story entitled The March on Everywhere.
Leslie Jamison is the author of The Empathy Exams and The Gin Closet. Her work has appeared or will appear in places like Harper's, Oxford American, A Public Space, Virginia Quarterly Review, and The Believer. I'm a columnist for the New York Times Book Review, and an Assistant Professor at Columbia University.
James Marcus is the editor of Harper's Magazine and the author of Amazonia: Five Years at the Epicenter of the Dot-Com Juggernaut (2004) as well as seven translations from the Italian, the most recent being Giacomo Casanova's The Duel (2011). He forthcoming book is Glad to the Brink of Fear: A Portrait of Emerson in Thirteen Installments.
