Subscription: Forever Young (Adult)
Aliens. Ghosts. Cheerleaders. Magic. The past. The future. YA, at its very best, makes strange and bizarre new worlds familiar, and makes our familiar world wonderful and baffling. It brings us heroes to love, heroes we want to throw our arms around for how real and vital they feel. Our job is to find the newest, craziest, and best things out there right now. And your job is the greatest one of all: dive in!
Here's an excerpt from our Q&A with our Forever Young (Adult) subscription curator, Haley Patail:
Why did you decide to create the Forever Young (Adult) subscription?
As anyone at Book Culture will tell you, I am president, secretary, and treasurer of the Young Adult fan club at our store. My very favorite moments are ones where I'm helping someone find just the absolute perfect YA book. So pretty much before they even had the question all the way out of their mouth, I was jumping up and down and asking to be a part of this program.
Which Hogwarts House would you be in?
I am 100% pure unadulterated Hufflepuff. And proud of it!
If you could visit any country, which would it be?
Currently I am very infatuated with the thought of going to Greece. I feel like the line between the present and the distant, distant, almost unfathomable past is so thin there, which I'm very into.
How many times have you missed a subway stop while reading?
NEVER. I think I've been scarred for life ever since that episode of Hey Arnold where he falls asleep on the bus and goes all the way to the end of the line and gets SUPER LOST. As such, I am far too anxious to ever lose focus on the train. I really don't want to end up wherever trains sleep.
Cats or Dogs?
I love dogs for their optimism, but I respect cats for their skepticism.
