Subscription: Queer Voices
In our world filled with such diversity, we find it to be incredibly important to shine the light on every piece that we can. In this program, we aim to shine that light onto the queer authors and characters that are too often overlooked and under represented. Celebrate pride, artistry, and sexuality with our selections which will feature a mix of older (and possibly forgotten) "classics" to newly published books in both fiction and non-fiction genres. All titles will represent the works of a queer author or strong queer representations throughout the book.
Titles similar to program include: Call Me By Your Name by André Aciman, In The Dark Room by Susan Faludi, and The Color Purple by Alice Walker.
Here's an excerpt from our Q&A with our Queer Voices subscription curator, Josh Hereth:
Why did you decide to create the Queer Voices subscription?
It's not something I am asked about enough in store but really want to share. I guess it's a pretty hard thing to ask about, so I thought I would make it easier for those who are interested all over the country to read some of my past and current favorites in LGBT fiction and nonfiction.
Which Hogwarts House would you be in?
Hufflepuff without a single doubt.
If you could visit any country, which would it be?
I have recently become quite the Francophile in recent months and should the opportunity come to travel, France is first on the list.
What would you eat for your last meal?
Nothing beats a bacon cheeseburger.
How many times have you missed a subway stop while reading?
Never. But I have gotten on the wrong train because I was reading.
Cats or Dogs?
I grew up with dogs so I'm frankly over it. Cats, cats, cats.
