On Tuesday, April 14th at 6pm, Louisa Burns-Bisogno and Saundra Shohen launch their new page turner, The Night John Lennon Died . . . so did John Doe at Book Culture on Columbus. Based on true events, The Night John Lennon Died...so did John Doe is the ER Administrator's baptism by fire when John Lennon’s bloodied body is carried into Roosevelt Hospital's ER over the shoulder of a policeman. Moments later, in the next room there is the suspicious death of an elderly John Doe. As the old man’s frail body is placed next to Lennon’s in the morgue van, Annie believes her involvement in these two senseless deaths is over. It is just beginning…
On Tuesday, February 24th, at 7pm Dr. Tovah Klein will read and discuss her new book, How Toddlers Thrive, at Book Culture on Columbus. Dr. Tovah Klein, called "the toddler whisperer" on Good Morning America, has penned "a parenting milestone" (Dr. Harvey Rotbart, No Regrets Parenting) with How Toddlers Thrive, which shows parents of children ages two to five how to harness the singular power of the toddler mind during what might be the most crucial time of a child's brain development, to plant the seeds of lifelong success.

Yelena Bryksenkova is a Russian born illustrator based in New Haven, Connecticut. Using vibrant colors and amazing detail, Bryksenkova's drawings depict scenes of everyday life that are anything but ordinary. In her work that toes the line between being dreamy and realistic, the familiar is fantastically alive: every object and creature--whether a face, tree, table, dress, imaginary elephant--buzzes with personality.
Not all of our customers are aware that we have a wide selection of rare books at our store on 112th (including a first printing of The Great Gatsby, with the infamous typo “sick in tired” on page 206). After our Edward Said Library Sale and Auction, we thought, how can we do more to show off the one-of-a-kind books that we have in our store? Being in this neighborhood, in such close contact with the Columbia Faculty and the literary residents of the Upper West Side, we are always coming into the possession of the libraries of retired Professors, deeply read locals, and even our own customers. From first editions of classic novels to complete sets of German philosophy to out of print Derrida titles, our shelves are full of such books you would be hard-pressed to find elsewhere in the city...

2015 is quickly coming to an end, and our booksellers are looking back on a great year in reading. The staff at Book Culture 112th have put together a list of our favorite bestsellers from this year.
