112th: Michelle Meier and Fiona Wilson
Join us on Friday, October 9th at 7pm for readings by Fiona Wilson and Michelle Meier from their new books of poetry. Fiona will be reading from A Clearance and Michelle from Famous Geranium.
A Clearance: In this long-awaited and masterful debut, Fiona Wilson gives us astonishing and uncommon poems that may have emerged from the Scottish and American traditions but can be found somewhere in the middle of the Atlantic, while her readers come ‘to the edge of a question’ by either shore. Wilson’s formal brilliance is all worked through with chagrin, wit, and modesty.
Famous Geranium: Michelle Meier’s first collection of poems, Famous Geranium, traverses the stuff of accidents, peculiarities, contradictions, futilities, losses, and dreams. Meier's precise language and exacting attention reveal the luminous strangeness that inhabits the most ordinary objects and occurences and takes us in touching distance of the nearly-here and nearly-seen but just out of reach.
