LIC: Colors de la Runway Community Coloring Event
Join Book Culture LIC on Saturday, April 27th at 11:30am for a special community coloring event led by Colors de la Runway author, Clarence Ruth. Drawing inspiration from the book's theme, participants of all ages are invited to fill in a giant coloring sheet featuring one of Ruth's illustrations.
Smart, witty, and stylish, Colors De La Runway teaches kids the colors of the rainbow in both English and French. Each expressive line drawing illustrates a unique look from a major designer or brand that has graced the most prestigious runways. The vibrant hues and dynamic clothing sketches will delight both kids and adults who love color, pattern, fashion, and design.
Clarence Ruth is a native son of New York, born in Autumn of 1981. As a young boy in elementary school Ruth established success as an artist by winning a number of first place in art contest and fares along with one of his pieces being bought by JC Penny’s in which it still today hangs on the department store wall. Ruth has also had his artwork displayed in a number of museums such as Polk Museum Of Art and The African Museum Of Art. As a young man Ruth decided to display his artistic expression through clothing in which he found himself sketching out full collections. At that point Ruth took fashion as his calling. After completing four years of college in fashion design Ruth established a successful career as a fashion model and head of visuals and designer for brands such as Andrew Buckler, Ralph Lauren, Tom Ford, and John Varvatos just to name a few. Ruth's work has been seen throughout Manhattan, Hamptons, and Asia. More recently Ruth has partnered up with the city of Xiqiao and the Chinese Government as Creative Director to develop collections that showcase China’s denim materials and technique. He’s also founder and creative director of his own brand Cotte D’Armes.
