LIC: A Special Storytime with Marcie Colleen
Join Book Culture LIC on Sunday, April 19th at 11:30am for a special storytime with author, Marcie Colleen, to celebrate the release of her new picture book, The Bear's Garden.
Inspired by the true story of a community garden in Brooklyn, New York, picture book The Bear’s Garden by writer Marcie Colleen and illustrator Alison Oliver is a testament to how imagination and dedication can transform communities and create beauty for everyone in unexpected places.
A little girl sees an empty lot in a city and imagines what it can be.
She sees
a place to grow,
a place to play,
and a place to love.
With the help of her stuffed bear, the girl brings her community together to create a beautiful garden.
In previous chapters Marcie Colleen has been a teacher, an actress, and a nanny, but now she spends her days writing children’s books! She is the award-winning author of THE SUPER HAPPY PARTY BEARS chapter book series with Macmillan/Imprint, as well as picture books, LOVE, TRIANGLE, illustrated by Bob Shea, PENGUINAUT!, illustrated by Emma Yarlett, and THE BEAR'S GARDEN, illustrated by Alison Oliver. She is from New York, but now lives with her husband and their mischievous sock monkey in San Diego, California.
