Online: AaiĂșn Nin with Nana Darkoa Sekyiamah
Join Astra House and Book Culture on Tuesday, February 1, 2022 at 12pm Eastern for a special event to celebrate Black History Month and the publication of AaiĂșn Ninâs debut poetry collection Broken Halves of a Milky Sun. They will be joined in conversation by Nana Darkoa Sekyiamah, author of The Sex Lives of African Women, for a conversation about desire and sensuality, Diaspora, creation, activism, and empowerment. This event is free and open to the public, but you must register in advance.

AaiĂșn Nin (born 1991) is a writer, mixed media artist and painter born in Luanda, Angola. AaiĂșn's poetry has been published in multiple Scandinavian magazines and journals, including Information, Untold Pages, Kritiker, Friktion, Forfatternes Klimaaksjon, and hvermandag.dk. They are also the contributing editor of the Danish magazine Marronage. They have performed and read at literary festivals like Oslo Internasjonale Poesi Festival in Norway and at the Louisiana Literature Festival in Denmark. The leading Danish newspaper, Politiken, recently called AaiĂșn a "great, rare talent in Danish literature." AaiĂșn studied in Zimbabwe and South Africa. They currently reside in Poland.
Nana Darkoa Sekyiamah is a feminist activist, writer and blogger. Her book The Sex Lives of African Women: Self-Discovery, Freedom, and Healing will be published next month by Astra House and available for preorder. She is the co-founder of Adventures from the Bedrooms of African Women, an award-winning blog that focuses on African women, sex and sexualities, and she writes frequently for The Guardian, Open Democracy, and elsewhere. She works with the Association for Women's Rights in Development (AWID) as director of communications and tactics. She lives in Accra, Ghana.
