We can, but prisons have very strict rules and they vary widely from institution to institution. If you want to ship books to a prison, you'll need to verify with the prison that you have the correct address format and learn their mail restrictions. If there are any special requirements that we need to be aware of when shipping, you need to let us know. We aren't responsible if the package is rejected.
In general, we can ship internationally, but our website isn't currently set up to calculate the shipping for international orders. Because of this, when checking out, choose the "International Shipping Quote Request" shipping option which doesn't charge you shipping but does indicate that you want international shipping. Then, when we process the order, we'll calculate the cost of shipping and give you that quote which you can accept or reject (international shipping can be quite pricey). If you reject it, we'll cancel your order and issue a full refund. If you accept it, we'll invoice you for the shipping charge and then ship the order.
We use USPS First Class or USPS Priority methods to ship internationally. First Class is cheaper, but only supports shipments up to 4 lbs (one to four books usually, depending on the books) and is slower and less reliable (there's no guaranteed delivery time frame or even an estimate). If you opt for First Class International shipments, it is at your own risk -- we do not provide refunds for delayed or non-delivered products shipped via this method. We strongly encourage customers to opt for the Priority shipping since it's faster and more reliable (6-10 business days to most countries).
In general, we do not pay any VAT charges, so if those would apply to your order in your country, you'll need to pay them on your end. We do not know any details about whether or not it's required for your order.
Some EU laws changed in 2021 that made it so VAT needs to be payed on certain classes of lower-cost products shipped to the EU that had previously been exempt. We do not pay that on our end (registration to do so is far too complicated and time consuming for small businesses), so you may need to pay VAT on your end, if your shipment is applicable, and your shipment may be delayed by customs. It's also possible that shipments to the EU will face the same possible issues that shipments to the UK face (being delayed, returned, or destroyed) -- we're not sure, so we do not recommend ordering products from us to be shipped to EU countries. If you want something shipped to an EU country regardless of our VAT registration status, we will not be responsible for delays, we will not refund the shipping charge if the book is returned to us, and we will not refund you if the shipment is lost or destroyed.
Some UK laws changed in 2021 that made it so businesses outside of the UK shipping to UK customers need to pay VAT that previously was covered by the recipient. Books are exempt from the VAT, but each and every shipment is still required to be registered with HMRC. Registration (just to be able to then register every shipment) is far too complicated and time consuming for small businesses, so we are not registered for UK VAT. Unregistered shipments may be returned, destroyed, or delayed, so we do not recommend ordering products from us to be shipped to the UK. If you want something shipped to the UK regardless of our VAT registration status, we will not be responsible for delays, we will not refund the shipping charge if the book is returned to us, and we will not refund you if the shipment is lost or destroyed.
